This isn't geeky, but I couldn't resist. This is the Hillshire Farm "Entree Salads" (sort of).
If you absolutely must have something geeky to take with you about this, then...um...i shot and posted in widescreen to see what it would look like compared to the other 4:3 ones. made the button console much smaller after the flash video conversion (see right column about what i use to make this site).
According to Electronic House magazine, at least 81% of tech-savvy consumers will not buy a proprietary dvd player for fear of one losing out over the other (rewind to BetaMax).
Do I buy the HD-DVD player or the Blu-Ray DVD player? I've seen more ads lately for Blu-Ray but that doesn't mean it's winning (or going to). Even the pc companies can't decide what to offer it's customers (for us custom-built consumers, that is). I've been watching the quad core for a while and keep pricing on Alienware to watch the price drop and they are offering the Blu-Ray DVD drive as an upgrade option...for about $1000.00 (yikes!). Not worth the risk yet (and of course the prices will drop quickly), but I'd rather drop that at the casino or slap on more memory
LG, however, has come out with a combo HD-BluRay dvd player that is getting decent reviews (read cnet.com's review here). You can buy one at Best Buy Online, just type "BH100" in the search field.
Although I'm happy with all other Apple/Mac items I own (and this was simple to install), the Mac Bluetooth Mouse was an extreme dissapointment. It was so awful, I exchanged it under the assumption that the first one I received was faulty. Not the case. They both sucked. As did their customer service (this was my first and only experience contacting their cust. svc. so I'm reserving further judment until the next time).
Back to the mouse.....It was as if nobody at Apple actually used it before putting it on the market. It has NO ease of movement across your monitor and getting it to any point on the screen was a very time-consuming task. It was so bad that I kept looking around thinking that I'd been "punked", only to find that I had...by Apple on this sucky item.
I'm not showing you in the video because when I did a test video it actually appeared as though I was faking (yes, this thing sucked so much even me watching my own video of my own movements seemed unreal), so I disconnected it and will be burying it in the back yard with all of my other dead mice (not really but I couldn't find a decent closing on this the first official "NOT GROOVY" on the site
HOWEVER...its companion product, the Mac Bluetooth Keyboard, works brilliantly...as do all of my other Mac products...so I'm not sure what went wrong at Apple on this one.
After 30 years in NC I moved to Seattle and have lived here for about 12 years. I've been a closet geek all of my life and have decided to come out via this site. I will no longer be ashamed of being a geek and hope that I inspire others to do the same
